Drummer Girl
Monday, November 05, 2007

A few people asked me whether I miss playing drums... ever since I left for studies in Sg. My answer... "Of course!". I know, I may not show it or say it.. but deep down I do. Yeah, I can easily pick up the sticks and whack on the drumset I have at home, when I'm back in Kluang. But the 'playing drums' I prefer to refer to here is actually serving in church and YF. It's totally different really. Ask the other drummers.

Addition to that, being a girl who plays drums I often feel intimidated or.. inferior to boys who play drums. Haha.. I suppose you all don't know that. I don't know. Maybe I 'grew' up being nurtured by a mentality that drums is a 'boy instrument' or a 'guy instrument'. Well, yeah.. it can get pretty technical (and most boys are naturally more technical than most girls), and it can get preeety loud too (don't we all know that??)... and more often than not people tend to think girls don't make very good or skillful drummers. Hmm... well, up to you to think and perceive. Every drummer has their own different skills, strengths, styles and abilities. So, to say a drummer is good or not is generally subjective. So, maybe drums isn't such a suitable instrument for girls? Hmm... I would like to doubtly think so.

Anyhow, I think that anyone can play any instrument they want lah. Haha.

My brain is empty now -.-
